Industry Recognized Certification Preparation: NEFI Heating Technician Certification; One Year Certificate for NH Plumbing Apprenticeship; OSHA 10 Hour
Year One:
Students will learn all the basics of the plumbing and heating trade, including the theories guiding its development, licensing, and codes. This course is 95% hands-on “mastery learning.” Students will use tools and equipment daily to master each skill before progressing to the next level. Grades are based on participation, safety, lab effort, general skill development, and trade tests. All written work is directly related to lab projects and graded accordingly.
Year Two:
Projects will be more complex, and students will be expected to work more independently. A certificate confirming one year of completion in the four-year New Hampshire Plumbing Apprenticeship is awarded to course completers. Students will be prepared to enter the trade at a higher pay rate and will need less time to obtain a plumbing and heating technician license.
Additionally, a heating technician certificate from the New England Fuel Institute is available upon high school graduation with extra curriculum work outside classroom time.
